what is metal clay?
Silver Metal Clay is tiny recycled silver particles mixed with an organic binder that can be rolled, textured, molded, carved and sculpted, much like a ceramic clay. Once you’ve created your masterpiece, the clay is dried out and you are able to refine your piece even more.
When you’re happy with your design, you fire the piece either with a flame torch, on your hob or in a kiln. The binder burns off and leaves a solid silver object. There are many different types of metal clay with the most commonly used being 99.9% fine silver which is even purer than sterling!
It's truly a magical process and the only limit is your imagination. Here’s just a few examples of what can be made...
